Greetings and Leave-taking Expressions

Common Japanese Greetings and Leave-taking expressions in polite daily conversation. Included are introduction to familial terminology, hints of Japanese culture through bowing, and general sentence structure. Natural introduction of Japanese particles, or relationals, are made without explanation. De facto modified Hepburn Romaji system should now become apparent. Teachers should not concern themselves with over-practicing these expressions because students will acquire this vocabulary, which is recycled throughout the chapter, with accuracy, fairly quickly. Included exercises and pair work will strengthen student comprehension.
